Our Story

Hey, y'all - greetings from our shop in Texas to you!! Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to get to know us a little.  My name is Amy and I'm a wife (to a burly man with a beard), a mom (of human AND fur-babies), a veteran teacher (shout-out to my amazing students!), a crazy-reader (LOVE a good mystery) a dreamer of dreams (Hello, Remarkable Dash!!), and a lover of Jesus. I'm so very thankful for the life He has given me and for the opportunity I have to get to know, and serve, each of you.

I get asked a lot about the story behind the name Remarkable Dash.  I'd love to share it with you, but I need to tell you that it might sound a little morbid at first. Please hang in there, though - I promise it's a story of joy and hope even if it does start in a graveyard...

Here goes... Have you ever walked around an old cemetery?  If you haven't, you really should!  My pastor loves doing this.  Yep, you heard me correctly - my pastor LOVES walking around old graveyards - I learned this one Sunday while he was sharing a story from the pulpit.  As he was talking about his experience there, walking among the historical and beautiful memorials, He pointed out to us all that each headstone had several things in common.  They all shared the similarities of a name, birth date and date of death but the most important part of that headstone, my pastor noted, was that one, little dash that each contained.  The dash that symbolized the moments, days and years of a person's life. The dash that represented conversations shared, memories made, relationships built, and opportunities to be a shoulder on which someone felt safe to cry.  The dash where we can choose to be unloving or to love well.  The one, little dash we get to spread hurt or kindness.  The dash where we can be discontent or find joy in the ups and downs, the big adventures and even the mundane.

I bet by now you're seeing this really IS a great story and not morbid at all, right?  In fact, like I said, it's a story of hope and joy; it's about making the most of the ONE DASH we are all given.   One life. One opportunity to make a difference this side of Heaven. One DASH on my headstone between my birth date and the day I go home. Considering this, I want to make it REMARKABLE - to make a mark over and again as many times as I can. To offer encouragement ...love...hope...connection. All the things. This is the heart behind, and inspiration for, the name Remarkable Dash.  It's also the mindset behind the mission of my store.  My desire is that when you visit RD, you feel inspired by the beautiful, hand-picked treasures and unique creations you will find inside it's virtual walls because I select and create them with YOU in mind.  I hope they serve to make you smile, feel confident and beautiful, and maybe even allow you to pass some joy on to someone you love. Now, get out there and make a mark with YOUR one, true remarkable dash!!

You only get one dash - make it remarkable!
